CHS Dedicates a day to Community Service

On the morning of April 28, Community students met with their forums instead of going to class as usual. They were to leave the school and head to their assigned destinations around the city. The plan was to give back; to help the environment and clean up the community. So for three hours, rather than having each class for a short 30 minutes as they would have on this abnormal half-day, students and staff removed invasive plant species, created safe living environments for animals, and picked up litter.

Mohamed El-Hussieny

“If you were to fall in the middle of the street in the U.S., nobody would help you up. That would never happen in Egypt,” said Mohamed El-Hussieny (more commonly known as Moe), a current math teacher at Community High. Though Moe has spent most of his life in the United States, he was born in Egypt and it has always been a rich component of his life.

  5. Cook a giant meal and record your own cooking show.
  6. Host a Lost, Gossip Girl, or Grey’s Anatomy marathon.

  8. Explore your neighborhood and find ice to skate on.
