Restaurant review: Steak and Shake
Diner style with many ways to shake it up
Steak ‘N Shake is a small restaurant with the feel of a diner. The chain first opened in Illinois in 1934, then later opened in Ann Arbor in 1999. As their name says, they are most famous for thier steak burger and shakes. They have over 1,000 different combinations of shakes.
??The area’s Steak ‘n Shake is located at 4120 Ellsworth.??
Something to know when preparing to come to this diner is that everything on the menu costs less than $10. However, for just $2.59 you can upgrade to a platter, which gives you the choice of two; fries, chili, coleslaw, baked beans, cottage cheese, and soup or salad.
All of the employees wear uniforms that include a red bowtie. For the most part they were friendly and eager to help. However, there is a lack of waiters
and waitresses. Low staff makes service slow especially on their busy nights, which range from Thursday to Sunday.
Something good to know about all restaurants is the state of their restrooms. The restrooms at Steak ‘N Shake were respectable. They were well kept and clean.
Sometimes the way food looks can determine how the food will initially taste. Their chili looks disgusting, therefore it would seem that it would taste the same. But the chili’s taste is actually quite delicious, especially with cheese added on top.
All of their shakes are scrumptious. Especially the cookie dough bits ‘n pieces, the peanut butter cup, and chocolate mint flavors. They also offer original, bits ‘n pieces, sippable sundae, and fruit ‘n frozen yogurt flavors.
Other unique specialties at Steak ‘N Shake are the fries and steak burgers. The fries are smaller, and crispier than most fries. You can also order the fries with cheese on top. The steak burgers are what separate this restaurant from others. This is because the burgers are made out of steak instead regular hamburger. The shift supervisor especially praises their 3-cheese premium topping steak burger.
Even though their fries and shakes may be amazing, their veggie beef soup and onion rings are not equally as delectable. The onion rings were not served with any type of sauce, and the batter overweighed the taste of the onions. The veggie beef soup lacked beef, and flavor.
Overall Steak ‘N Shake is a good place to go for a different kind of burger and incredible shakes. If you’re looking for a casual dining experience at an inexpensive price, this is an excellent restaurant to choose.
