There was no ice age. What the movies portray is not always true. What you’ve been taught since childhood is not true. There was no ice age, there are, however, ice ages.
The movie in itself was fantastic, most of it having to do with the tremendous actors and actresses on screen. The banter was witty, the action was spot on. The plot was shaky, but who cares. Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is witty and lights up every character on screen with him. But he is not alone. Many other big names were cast, such as Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell.

"Our School" documentary sheds light on a discouraging phenomenon in Detroit. Photo via http://ourschoolproductions.com
By June 2010, 34 Detroit Public Schools will be closed, resulting in the relocation of over 10,000 students. Detroit’s Public School dilemma has been all over the news for quite a while now, but it’s always just numbers, facts, and bleak predictions for what’s in store as political leaders battle their way towards a solution.
Originally titled, Män Som Hatar Kvinnor, (Men Who Hate Women), and translated into English the book and movie were renamed The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the book turned movie written by deceased Stieg Larsson is about sadists and masochism. The story is about a young girl with a mysterious past in a mental institution, a defamed journalist, and an old man in search of his long lost niece. The adventure begins with Mikael Blomkvist (Meek-ail Bloom-fist) a journalist being prosecuted in court by a Hans-Erik Wennerström (Venner-strum) for libel. Mikael has published an article in his journal called Millennium, but the article turned out too good to be true and now Mikael has to go to jail.
Essentially the movies are about the journey of Perseus and his quests to defeat monsters and rescue the beautiful Andromeda. Though the first Clash of the Titans from 1981 is considered a “cheesy stop-motion flick” now, it was originally a better movie than most back then. In my opinion it was directed beautifully, except for the stop-motion animation which completely put me off any movie from before 2000.
In Roman Polanski’s latest thriller “The Ghost Writer”, Ewan McGregor plays a likable British author who is hired at the last minute to rewrite the memoirs of former Prime Minister Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan). On his first day at the job, McGregor learns two distressing facts: his predecessor died a mysterious death only a few days earlier, and his boss is being investigated for war crimes.
As a Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter fan I have been looking forward to the new “Alice in Wonderland” since knowing it was being made. Also a fan of many artists on the soundtrack, I was really excited. However, I am the type of person who prefers movies not made from books. I came to this movie extremely interested, yet cautiously optimistic.
I am a huge fan of Ricky Gervais. I’ve seen and enjoyed every episode of “The Office” and “Extras” and every stand-up comedy DVD he’s performed. I’ve listened to every episode of his old radio program and his series of podcasts and audiobooks. He is my favorite comedian. I’m saying this because I want you to understand how disappointed I am with “The Invention of Lying,” the first feature film he both co-directed and co-wrote.
