Humpty Dumpty

He waited until they were alone to speak.  “I’m glad you came,” he told her.

“I’m glad you called,” she said.

“How are the kids?” he asked.  She looked down at her feet and felt a lump form in her in her throat, like she had just swallowed a hard boiled egg.  “I’d love to see them sometime,” he said.

“Oh yeah, of course,” she said.  “They’re really getting into chess,” she added.

“It’s not too late to put this back together,” he said.  He looked down at her feet and saw that she was wearing white, gold toed socks.

“I can’t take it anymore,” she said, “eggs are all I can think about.”  He leaned over to her until his lips were almost touching her left ear lobe.

“You’re all I can think about,” he whispered.

“Your breath smells like eggs,” she said, “why don’t you help me take these socks off?”
